Our Story

Saffron Patisserie, Est'd 1973

Cavendish Bakery opened in 1973 as Saffron Patisserie in Grove Road, Eastbourne.

It was established by patissier Cliff Bennett and his wife Maureen. Cliff was previously a manager at the renowned Bondofi’s in Eastbourne where he had worked with his father Norman who was also a skilled confectioner and a director of Bondolfi’s.

Cliff’s son Mark joined the business in 1987 and completed an apprenticeship at Brighton Technical College. He subsequently became a partner with Cliff in 1992 when they bought Cavendish Bakery in Cavendish Place.

Over the years our business has evolved from a patisserie to a bakery. We continue to bake on the premises daily and offer the highest quality product range.
