Since 1973

About Us
Cavendish Bakery opened in 1973 as Saffron Patisserie in Grove Road, Eastbourne, by patissier and former Bondolfi manager Cliff Bennett. The bakery is now owned by his son Mark, a third generation baker and confectioner.
Mark completed an apprenticeship with Brighton Technical College, winning Student of the Year for three years running and the prestigious, industry-renowned Renshaw Cup for excellence.
Now in its 49th year, the bakery has a longstanding reputation for its products and service in the town. We bake daily at our premises in Eastbourne and continue to follow traditional recipes.
We’re also proud to display the top rating of ‘5 – Very Good Hygiene Standards’ under the Food Hygiene Rating Scheme and have done so since the scheme’s inception.

the Best Ingredients
Sourcing the best ingredients makes all the difference. We use trusted suppliers for our raw ingredients and partner with local producers where we can.

Traditional Recipes
We use tried and trusted recipes passed down from generations before us. Try our traditional eccles cake and perfect puff pastry sweet and savoury products, for example.

Everything by Hand
New technology and machinery has its place in the bakery. But we also prepare, knead and finish many of our lines by hand for an authentic, quality product.
